“This collection of incredibly powerful Rock songs really sits on the cutting edge of the 21st Century zeitgeist.” - 4.5/5 - 3 Songs And Out

Tracklist:
1. Give Me Something
2. Stone Cold
3. Out Of Time
4. Take Your Medicine
5. She Devil

Oxford’s Hell’s Gazelles Rock out in a furious cannonade of ballistic almost Wagnerian rifferama. Their influences are wide and I sense AC/ DC, The Darkness, Nazareth and Def Leppard but with their very own Hell’s Gazelles stamp of Heavy Rock authority. If Rock voices were champion Russian gymnasts then Cole Bryant possesses a sack load of Olympic Golds for the way his acrobatic voice twists, turns and somersaults so impressively across these five mega thumping tunes. In the press release for the release of the ‘Take Your Medicine’ EP, the band’s second release, Bryant talks of his pride as a lyricist. He explains that the record “deals with mental health, faith, faithlessness and disillusionment, both in politics and our own experience of life”.

This collection of incredibly powerful Rock songs really sits on the cutting edge of the 21st Century zeitgeist. “Give Me Something” is an inspiring treatise on the lies and disrespect of others. One line tells of the band being “sick and tired of mediocrity”. Cole was keen not to drop the profanities from the lyrics and I am glad he didn’t. Clearly the song is unlikely to get played on the radio but damn it has a brutally forceful message. Have you ever been in a relationship where the other partner in it has sucked the blood and energy right out of you? I have and “Stone Cold” is a heartfelt anthem for anyone who has been at the receiving end of such toxicity. The title track of the EP, “Take Your Medicine”, is my favourite so far, although the competition is fierce.

I have mentioned supreme vocalist Cole Bryant a few times, but this is most definitely a band. Nath Digman’s power over the mightiest of Rock riffs is stunning. The rhythm section of Rik Ridemark on bass guitar and Luke Evans on Drums create a bedrock that a dancing mammoth would struggle to break. The cover was created by Very Metal Art and appropriates the ‘Dr Strangechild’ character from their first release. We, no the world, desperately need an album from this lot, but while we are waiting this Extended Play will more than suffice!

BAND HELL'S GAZELLES
ALBUM TAKE YOUR MEDICINE (EP)
OUT  2018 - JULY 27th
LABEL SELF-RELEASE
OUR RATING 79/100

HELL'S GAZELLES are a  four piece hard rock band from UK, ready with a self titled EP, their debut, called TAKE YOUR MEDICINE.

Recorded and produced by Chris D'Adda (Wayward Sons, Toseland) at Vale Studios and mixed / mastered by Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Milk Teeth) at The Ranch Production House, 'Take Your Medicine' features five high-energy hard rock tunes with contemporary flavour.
Hell's Gazelles have been making a name for themselves  supporting live, among others, Black Moth, The Treatment, Desert Storm plus playing Bloodstock Open Air, HRH Roadtrip.
The band is able to use the lesson from the masters of the past, making it fresh and contemporary.
You can find it in these five songs enhanced by direct riffing, ductiles vocals, the latter maybe lightly penalised from a production that doesn't put them in relief.
If we have to choose a song, no doubt..our fav is SHE DEVIL, more structured and various and in 70's mood.

LASTLY

HARD ROCK of the MODERN DAY with the right ATTITUDE!

“Refreshingly British Steel” 7.5/10 - Original Rock 24/7
Picture
Oxford’s Hell’s Gazelles self-released E.P ‘Take Your Medicine’ proves once more that “classic” Heavy Metal is making a welcome, long overdue Rocking return. Opening cut ‘Give Me Something’ has some high pitched vocals that would make canine ears bleed and a foot down motoring backbone that is somewhere between Priest/Dio/Roses with an Almighty sidecar. The lyrics could do with a bit of polish. The use of the C-word is always a tough act to pull off as is motherf*cker when sung by a British voice. Next up is the boot stomping single ‘Stone Cold’ which musically bullies you into headbanging, air guitar and fake drumming submission.
‘Out Of Time’ has a multi-purpose Bizkit riff while the vocals will nostalgically take those old enough to remember, back to the days where the frontman ruled the Rock world. Title track ‘Take Your Medicine’ powers along before final track ‘She Devil’ summons up ghosts of maidens past and wraps up this refreshingly British Steel release.

“Welcome to hard rock heaven” 10/10 - Jenny Tate Reviews
Hell’s Gazelles – ‘Stone Cold’
Originating from Oxford, quartet Hell’s Gazelles now offer up the single ‘Stone Cold’, from their brand-new EP, ‘Take Your Medicine’, released 27th July 2018. Five tracks of new wave heavy rock, with traditional influences. H.G. have so far supported Black Moth, The Treatment, Desert Storm and also played Bloodstock Open Air and HRH Road Trip, etc. Fronted by Cole Bryant, engineered at The Ranch Production House, by Chris D’adda (Wayward Sons, Toseland), production and recording and Neil Kennedy (Creeper, Milk Teeth), mixing and mastering.

H.G. have created an edgy classic rock and metal sound. The band’s overriding aim is to perfect the art of songcraft, bringing that out in their music, along with their passion and driving influences, both new and old.

Marking the EP release, with a one-off local show, HG will perform at The Bullingdon, Oxford, on Friday 20th July. To hear what John Challis (a.k.a. ‘Boycie’, Only Fools And Horses, The Green Green Grass) has to say about the event and EP, check out YouTube. (Link below).

Vocalist Cole Bryant refers to his lyrics as having double meanings, to reflect the truths and realities of all arenas of life, especially at this point in time.

In line with the engaging, irrepressible performance of ‘T.Y.M.’, Andy Pilkington, of Very Metal Art, does the duty of featuring ‘Dr Strangechild’, the eccentric scientist, within the cover. Svenja Block Photography.

Stone Cold – Massive intro! Forceful, impacting and wildly catchy. Instantly, you can hear that those vocals were born for this track. It’s very true to say that Cole brings it to life, coming off the line endings, with hugely powerful expression, like few can replicate. Mega drumming stamina characterises the whole song and particularly, the finale. Hard grooving riffs really get to work, laying down the hard-line rock, throughout and the rhythmic beat’s infectious. This is true rock, at its best. Completely at home with itself, it screams with perfect synchronisation and there’s not a note out of place. Welcome to hard rock heaven. Buy this. Buy it now. The next Seb Bach has entered the room.

10/10 **********

"Keeping the energy levels sky-high were Oxford-based four-piece Hell’s Gazelles, who are also releasing an EP later this year. No sooner had natural-born showman Cole Bryant set foot on the stage, he’d jumped off and disappeared into the crowd like a Whippet! With the vocals of Rob Halford and the moves of Freddy Mercury, I was transfixed. What a range – those high notes! It wasn’t long before Bryant’s shirt came off and the fist-pumping began in earnest, with plenty of audience interaction to boot.
This band has it all – with Nath Digman on guitar, Rik Ridemark on bass and Luke Evans on drums, Hell’s Gazelles emerged as a veritable powerhouse and gave an outstanding, tight, kickass performance. I can honestly say that I had a stupid big smile on my face throughout their entire set and I’ll be amazed if Hell’s Gazelles aren’t headlining very soon."

"Hard Rock with a smattering of metal; Hell’s Gazelles kept the Introducing stage going. It was a tight stage for their energetic frontman, Cole Bryant and they really rocked the room. He’s like an energiser bunny and just keeps going whilst keeping the melody and hardness in the vocal without wavering. Smashing the riffs and blasting the eardrums with cracking skin smashing, it was a strong set. Already having numerous big festival appearances under their studded belts, the band deserved this opportunity to bring their energy to Giants of Rock. A tour is in process, go and see them live. A great band."

Live Review - Giants of Rock

"Stage presence, charisma, good songs, great riffs, quality musicianship. Many upcoming young bands have some of these elements. Few have them all. But Hell’s Gazelles had absolutely everything – in spades. A young four-piece from Oxford, vocalist Cole Bryant has an immense vocal range and proved himself an incredible front-man. Similarly, the young Nath Digman is a great lead guitarist. Amongst very stiff competition Hell’s Gazelles were definitely the stand-out new act of the weekend for me. It’s hard to predict what the music industry or the rock scene is going to be like in twenty year’s time but if Hell’s Gazelles are not up there alongside whatever 2040’s equivalent of Iron Maiden or Judas Priest is by then there’s no justice in the world."

Hell’s Gazelles first came onto the AC Rock Reviews radar with their self-titled EP, which went on to finish 3rd in the 2016 EP of the Year Countdown. I had been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see this phenomenally energetic and diverse Hard Rock band live, and the opening to finally do so arose at Amplified Festival.
An explosive and adrenaline fuelled performance which sent shockwaves echoing and proverbial fireworks soaring proved to be one of the most must see appearances of the weekend. Equipped with one of the most exceptional bass players on the underground UK Rock scene, as well as an elite vocalist, lead guitarist and drummer, Hell’s Gazelles truly displayed the fabled ‘it factor’. If these guys are the future of Rock, then Rock has a dazzlingly bright few years ahead as the Hell’s Gazelles are a sight to behold.

Hell’s Gazelles Up The Pace
Every festival needs that no-holds-barred, high energy main stage opener and a band hailing from the spires of Oxford were determined to educate the HRH Ibiza Road Trip crowd in 80s-inspired party metal. Hell’s Gazelles might have settled on an odd choice when looking for something to rhyme with Hell (last time we looked the Devil had never been seen riding an antelope across the African savannas) but what’s in a name? Ratt did ok back in the day and it’s their brand of US West Coast hair metal – mixed with the ferocity of British hard rockers Heaven’s Basement – that underpins the Hell’s Gazelles’ infectious sound.

Hell's Gazelles - Hell's Gazelles

Perhaps one of the biggest surprises of the 2016 awards is to see the underground yet hopeful and promising British group Hell's Gazelles go above and beyond to reach the Top 3 in the EP of the Year Countdown.
But, the bands level of fame does not affect the superb, incredible quality of this simply wonderfully energetic EP as with this, Hell's Gazelles not only earned a nomination in the Future Shock Award, but also brought to light their remarkable potential which could see them go all the way.
