The heart of the EP is kick-started into ignition by an attention-grabbing intro before ‘You Ain’t Nobody’ takes the reigns of the release. The adrenaline is amplified and solidified by this fantastic song, mainly due to the enigmatic vocals and engaging overall vibe.
‘Dr. Strangechild’ endorses shades of impressive Classic Metal vocals and conventions that you would expect to hear from battle-hardened Metal veterans like Judas Priest. To hear such mastery over this range of Rock sounds from a band as young as Hell’s Gazelles is completely unheard of and incredibly refreshing to witness. The EP continues to expand it terms of conviction and Hard Rock creativity thanks to the incredible ‘Nothing Ventured’, which seems to pledge higher loyalty to Classic Rock tinged influences as appose to Hard Rock ideologies, making for a great final product.
‘Brain Dead’ utilises an infectious bass line which when coupled with the encouraging guitar riffs portrays an exceedingly spectacular combo. ‘Shivers’ displays itself as a unique, charismatic up-tempo Hard Rock prospect with plenty of bragging rights in terms of character as well as pace.
I thought it would be a cold day in hell before I came across a debut EP that connects to the spirit of Hard Rock as perfectly as this wonderful release. Hell’s Gazelles have their potential well within their grasp and, with such an understanding of power and dominance, I can honestly see them going all the way if they keep this up because, this is a release to be proud of.
